Swearing and Sex
- SWEARING We use fake (aka alternative) swear words, such as "Frost on a Pickle" and our four-letter "C" word is "Cook"; our favorite "F" word is "Family".
- SEX There's no (actual) nudity, or graphic sexual encounters. There is ample sexual innuendo, and brief nudity from the shoulders up plus innuendo of a foot-long sandwich being mistaken for something else (ahem).
Disordered Eating and Violence
- DISORDERED EATING There's no anorexia, bulemia, or body shaming. There is a playful "not even ice cubes" reference when Eric tries to sidestep a potential poisoning. Our actors represent a cross-section of society, in all shapes and sizes.
- VIOLENCE There are no guns, blood, guts, explosions, drug deals, TikTok challenges or car chases. There is a playfully-benign stalker, who is also respectful and protective. However, it does not idolize stalking (it turns out, he's actually just an Anti-Wedding Planner hired by the mother-in-law); and this issue is grappled with in more depth, later in the series.
Plot
- The Smartlys win $300 million and retire as royalty of the Minnesota Renaissance Faire. They disrupt uppity La Jolla high society while remaining trapped in time, on the day before their 50th Anniversary -- while everyone conspires to inherit their fortune.
