Floyd Strayer as Preston Smartly in Comedy TV Series!

Floyd Strayer who plays 'Spencer Preston Smartly' was recently interviewed by Susan J. Farese, SJF Communications.   

SJF: Tell us about your character in The Smartlys  

FS: Spencer "Preston" Smartly (SPS) lives his life like a 19 year old male who never grew up. He's addicted to expensive cars, luxurious houses and fast women! 

He's not anything like me personally, which makes it fun to act out a narcissistic playboy character. Coming up with ways to always draw attention to himself. Scheming ways to spend Eric’s millions from the lottery win. Everything he owns has a theme around golf and SPS. Orange is his favorite color.  

SJF: What are 3 things about you we don’t know about ‘you’…(not your character)! 

FS: Grew up in south central Ohio in the 60’s, joined Marines senior year high school when turned 17 in 1974. Vietnam was still on but ended a month before I left for boot camp. Served 21 years active duty, and have spent 21 years serving the Navy as a civilian.  

SJF: What compelled you to audition for The Smartlys?  

FS: I had just spent months studying and performing Diary Of Anne Frank as her father Otto Frank. I was in search of comedy to switch gears for awhile. So glad I did. I adore the Smartly family!  

SJF: Words of wisdom/advice for actors? 

FS: I started stand-up at 58 and acting at 60. My 89 year old mother showed me you are never too old to try something new.
